CARES Act Coronavirus Relief Fund

Under the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act, state and local governments received Coronavirus Relief Funds which is financial aid to address COVID-19 related economic impacts at the state and local levels. The Washington Department of Commerce (Commerce) oversees contracts with local governments to administer these funds. Jefferson County is under contract with Commerce to receive Coronavirus Relief Funds (CRF) so that COVID-19 related costs and expenditures can be reimbursed. UPDATE: County Board of Commissioners Make Decisions on Funding

The Jefferson County Board of Commissioners made final decisions on September 23, 2020 to fund projects using CARES Act CRF dollars. The Board ranked and funded as many projects proposed by the ICC six community groups as was possible given the limited amount of CRF available. Working to Identify and Prioritize Jefferson County Community Needs Related to COVID-19

The Board of County Commissioners directed the COVID Finance Section and other staff to identify priority needs and projects that respond or mitigate the economic impacts of the COVID-19 public health emergency. The Jefferson County Administrator circulated a letter and talking points that requests immediate feedback on the COVID-19 related community needs and priorities. Jefferson County Coronavirus Relief Funds Talking Points

The Jefferson County Intergovernmental Coordinating Committee six community groups are helping the County identify priority needs and projects for the Board of County Commissioners consideration for funding. The six community groups are: Economy and Jobs; Children and Families; Broadband; Food System Resiliency; Human Services and, Culture and Events. These groups were asked to submit a prioritized list to the County Commissioner’s office by September 4, 2020.
