Placing an Issue or Measure on the Ballot

Jurisdictions have the authority to place issues and measures on the ballot for voter approval. Local jurisdictions have the authority to request a special election by submitting a resolution to the County Auditor's Office by the resolution deadline. Below you will find information and resources for jurisdictions to place an issue or measure on a ballot or conduct a special election.

We also recommend jurisdictions read the Department of Revenue’s Guide to Ballot Measure Requirements  and Municipal Research Services Center - Local Ballot Measure Database pages.
